calmcontacts setup
Sign in to set up Obsidian sync, connect GitHub, or import contacts. Your contacts themselves live in your Obsidian vault — there is nothing to see here day-to-day.
Step 1 — connect GitHub
Installs the calmcontacts app on just your vault repository — no token to create, copy, or renew, and nothing secret is stored on the server. On the GitHub page, choose Only select repositories and pick exactly one. An empty repository or an existing vault repository both work: existing files are imported on the first sync, and nothing is overwritten.
Step 2 — mint a sync password
Give the device a label and mint. Copy the password when it appears — it's shown once and can't be viewed again. Lost it? Just log back in here any time and mint a new one. The macOS contact importer uses one of these passwords too.
Step 3 — point Obsidian at your vault
In Obsidian, install the Remotely Save plugin, choose
WebDAV, and enter address , your email as
username, and the password from step 2. Leave Remotely Save's encryption off.
Import
Import a CSV spreadsheet, a LinkedIn connections export, or
contacts exported as vCard (iCloud.com → Contacts → select all → Export
vCard, or macOS Contacts → File → Export). Each person becomes a markdown
file in your vault's contacts/ folder; people who already have a
file are skipped, so re-importing never overwrites your notes.
CSV columns (header row, any order — only First Name is required): First Name, Last Name, Company, Position, Email, Mobile, Location, Comments.
